Saddam Hussein Executed

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/12/29/hussein/index.html

It's true: Butcher of Baghdad Saddam Hussein has finally been hanged.

Across the world, there have been celebrations en masse celebrating his death. After Saddam died, a group of people danced around the body.

It's the end of a rather terrible era for the Iraqi people, who have lived in fear for the past 35 years, and have experienced three wars under Saddam's regime.

Good ridence, I say.

Yes, I am very happy he's dead. But have you noticed the lefties complaining about this being a case of victor's justice? I'd think that the fact that he killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people made it a case of moral justice.

Yes, although some make a reasonable debate that he should have stayed alive longer so the US could gather important information from him.

The main problem with Iraq is that they've never known capitalism and they've never known civil liberties. They've only known anarchy and dictatorship. So until they are introduced to the idead of a free market and civil liberties, which George W Bush is doing a rather pathetic job of doing so, the violence will continue.

Maybe. But how much did he really know that is of use to the US?

Yes, but then as Ayn Rand pointed out, neither did the Americans. They came close to capitalism when the Founding Fathers made their system but then they put bits into the Constitution that contradicted the ideals they had defined capitalism as the representative of, i.e., individual sovereignty. They came closer than anyone else at least.

The characters of some of the books I am writing will introduce true capitalism to their nations. It is a shame the same hasn't yet happened in real life.

Indeed. But Bush isn't even doing a good job of defending such ideas in his own nation let alone Iraq.

He might know the whereabouts of some of his associates, and other evil men.

Can't wait to read them. ;-)

True. But then again only not. I suppose the only way to know would of been to make him talk. They didn't do that. They should of.

Cool. I am up to chapter 9 of the first draft of the first book and getting fast progress. However, the editing stage will take a long time, as will finding a publisher willing to publish my book, which will be hard given it is my first. So it may be up to three years before publication.

So, have you figured out the whole plot for your first story?

Kane Bunce said...

Indeed I do have the story planned. I can send a synopsis, theme information, some character details, and setting details to your email if you want.

Callum said...

Yes, please. That would be much appreciated.

I will work on it when I get home and email it to you tomorrow okay?

Kane Bunce said...

Sorry but I have two job interviews today so I won't be able to get it done today after all.

Callum said...

OK. Obviously, job interviews take the priority, and I'm fine with that.

After I got home yesterday I was too tired to work on it but I promise to do it today if nothing comes up.
