Who will head the next New Zealand government?
I know it's a long time till the next election, but, from recent events in parliament (Don Brash's resignation and Nicky Hager's book, Pledge Cards, etc) who do you think will lead the government after the next election?
I believe it will be (very unfortunately) Helen Clark. John Key's "expansion" of National's support base will only end in disaster-why would an environmentalist vote for the same party as a business lawyer? Because of it, John Key's supports will leave in droves, as National's policies will be a blur and contradictory. He will get significantly less than the current PM, and will have to be replaced (again).
The next National Prime Minister probably isn't in Parliament yet.

Yes, you are right, that the public will most likely elect a Labour-led Government.
Why, though? I think one of the key reasons is 'rational ignorance' - that the cost of finding out the 'right' policies are high, and the benbefit from a 'correct' vote is low. That's why we get people making bad decisions in elections, but better decisions privately.
That's why we need to strip away the state, and I see no need to stop at the police/army/courts.

That's because there is no need to stop there.

There is no reason why they shouldn't if National supported strong property rights. Both the environmentalist and business lawyer would have an interest in property rights which would be to their benefit in their respective fields.
However National is hardly pro property rights, and less so now than in recent times. But no political party can really stand for strong property rights (including Libz). Their very existence is evidence that property rights have already been infringed. It's just downhill from there on.

Excellent point. However, what I am refering to as "business lawyer" and far more so "environmentalist" is in today's terms.
I'd vote for Judith Collins as leader.
